The Dodgeland K-12 School features a
design that clearly separates elementary, middle level and high
school students with a "school within a school" concept, designed to
provide a small school learning environment within the large
facility. The site includes new playfields, baseball and softball
competition fields, track/football field, elementary play areas, and
environmental learning areas. The building includes classroom space,
science labs for the middle school and high school students, a
greenhouse, technical education spaces, a 3 station gymnasium and
associated locker rooms, media centers for the elementary and
middle/high school levels, band/vocal and elementary general music,
two art classrooms, special education spaces, and associated
administrative and support spaces.
One of the unique features
of the building is the central performing arts/ multi-purpose/
commons space. Designed with flexibility of use in mind, it features
a raised platform for performances and/or presentations, and a
raised seating area for improved sightlines. Sound and lighting
systems have been designed for various uses, and a movable
partition, when closed, will allow for separate events, or one large
event when open. This space provides a wonderful community resource.
